Weave one locking row around the base and gently bend your spokes up DO NOT CREASE THEM. Sides: Weave 6 more rows of 11/64" flat/oval following the curve of the hoop. By the time you have gotten to the 7th row, You should be on the flat edge of the handle. (If you are not on the flat edge, weave 2 or more rows of 11/64" flat/oval). Weave 13 rows of 1/2" flat Weave one final row of 1/4" flat, cut and tuck Rim: Rim your basket with 1/2" flat/oval inside and outside. I used #7 round reed as a rim filler. You may choose to use Medium Seagrass. Lash with 11/64" flat/oval making an X around the basket. Adding the flowers and birds: After I stained my baskets, I placed my flowers just below the rims and tied them onto the basket. Then I sort of "floated" the birds so that they were facing the flowers. After I had them postioned, I added the stems and leaves. The stems were 1/4" flat, dyed Hunter Green. The leaves are 3/8" flat, dyed Hunter Green. For the tulip, I added long leaves on either side of the stem and the daisy has leave loops in two differant spots.Pattern by, Julie Kleinrath, Woven Designs 2098 J Rd, Fruita, CO 81521 (970)858-6771 Fax (970)858-6772 www.wovendesigns.com Flower and bird tie ons, Back Porch Babies and Baskets 605 Genesee Ave., Morrison, IL 61270 (815)772-7538 |
